Pop-ups can be useful for certain websites, but they are often blocked by default in web browsers like Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. This guide explains how to enable or disable pop-up blockers for specific sites or all websites.
Open Google Chrome.
Click the three dots (menu icon) in the top-right corner.
Select Settings from the dropdown menu.
In the left-hand menu, click Privacy and Security.
Select Site Settings.
Scroll down to the Content section and click Pop-ups and redirects.
Toggle the Pop-ups and redirects setting:
Blocked (Recommended): Prevent pop-ups from appearing.
Allowed: Enable pop-ups for all websites.
To manage pop-ups for specific websites:
Click Add under the Allowed to send pop-ups and use redirects section.
Enter the URL of the website and click Add.
Visit a website that uses pop-ups to verify your changes.
Open Microsoft Edge.
Click the three dots (menu icon) in the top-right corner.
Select Settings from the dropdown menu.
In the left-hand menu, select Cookies and site permissions.
Under the All permissions section, click Pop-ups and redirects.
Toggle the Block (recommended) setting:
On: Prevent pop-ups from appearing.
Off: Allow pop-ups for all websites.
To manage pop-ups for specific websites:
Click Add under the Allow section.
Enter the URL of the website and click Add.
Visit a website that uses pop-ups to verify your changes.
Pop-Ups Still Blocked? Clear your browser cache and cookies, then test again.
Unwanted Pop-Ups? Ensure you haven’t accidentally added a malicious site to the allowed list.
Pop-Up Windows Not Opening Properly? Disable any third-party extensions that may interfere.
